Battery life

When it comes to battery life, we use a mixture of synthetic tests and real -life usage, in order to fully understand what the phone is capable of. The first scenario we test is using the device normally – we listen to music, watch videos on Youtube, play a few games, spend quite a lot of time on the internet, use social media applications and last but not least we use the camera, all this with the display brightness set to 100%. Although this scenario has a low level of repeatability, it is still relevant for users, because everyone buys their device to use it, not to run synthetic battery tests.

The second scenario is the one in which we use our own app, LAB501 Battery Life to test battery life in two specific situations, with a very high level of repeatability. First, we run a video until the battery is depleted. Then, we run an integrated 3D sequence in a loop, until the same thing happens. In this scenario, we do not use a SIM card, but the screen brightness is set to 100% and the WiFi connection is active. These tests allow us to make a controlled comparison between phones, but they are not necessarily representative for daily use.

Sporting a 6000 mAh battery, ROG Phone 3 manages to get better performance than Lenovo Legion Phone Duel in our tests, but Legion Phone Duel’s battery life is also imppressive, especially given that we are talking about the most powerful smartphone on the market, equipped with the most powerful chipset, 16GB RAM and a large 144Hz display. Lenovo Legion Phone Duel manages to offer over 10 hours of non-stop gaming, about 15 hours of video playback and almost 48 hours of daily use away from the plug, a performance worthy of envy for any flahsgip.
